The Secret

This is an installation hidden inside a tiny, felted yurt. A total of 1-3 persons can hide themselves under the soft flap of the yurt and watch the secret creatures of the forest hiding inside of the yurt. A dim, moving light as well as the music created by Oddfunk Records will vary the experience. The artist has given branches and other materials something more (eyes, hands, tails, or relationships) to provoke the imagination. What did you see in the corner of your eye? Artist will be guiding the audience outside of the yurt.

This exhibition explores the humanisation and animation of nature, how one likes to see human features such as eyes, postures and expressions in the outlines, grooves and surfaces of nature. The exhibition attracts storytelling and imagination. The work also introduces the magical concept of puppetry how the lifeless becomes alive. Feeding the imagination with unperfected animation is important, especially in this digital age when 3D animations, for example, leave nothing to the imagination in their perfection.

On the other hand, the exhibition is a cry for lost forests, clear-cuttings, that instantly destroys, among other things, millions of story seeds and hazy dreams.

The exhibition consists of the yurt and its mysterious world. Additionally work can be spreading beyond the yurt, where some creatures have been taken a little further in humanisation. The work allows for delicious workshop ideas. The workshops can be, for example, story telling or workshops on puppet-building and puppetry in the spirit of the theme of the exhibition. There are many ways to tell a story, including writing, speaking, moving, visual and media art, puppetry and theatre. The exhibition may also grow from the stories of the exhibition guests, or perhaps new exhibitions will be created in the nearby forests of the exhibition guests.

photos above are from the show called Tunnebongari

Imagine yourself walking deep in the woods, can you see sudden flashes of mysterious creatures? As if there were faces and bodies hidden in branches and stones. What does your mind imagine and develop, is there a story rising up?

The Fox Carriage

street theatre concept

Kettukiesit is a fox-chicken puppet that has been built on a children carriage.  A child (max ca.20kg) is invited to take a ride with the fox carriage. The child is allowed to move the head of the fox and make its mouth open.  What does the fox say? What is the sound of the fox? Children are welcome to explore puppet manipulation. At the same time other participants can meet the fox and through meeting the fox they meet the child too.

The reactions and play of others around make the puppet alive. The play together creates collective experience.
Artist as a chicken-fox-human is taking care of the carriage. What kind of questions will arise from the relationships and mixtures of chickens, foxes and human?

Lyydia the Meditation Bear

street theatre concept

You can meet Lyydia the Meditation bear in the shadows of the city streets or parks. Let yourself dive into a deep meditative staring moment with someone lifeless, yet feeling so alive.  What arises in you? Can you hear the silence?

The artist walking with Lyydia has witnessed some magical meetings with humans sharing they experience.

Rafael the Emotion(al) Magician

performative workshop

In this performative workshop Rafael and kids are exploring emotions.

Rafael, straight from Marsipania, is passionate about emotions, especially the affective nature of them. Nobody knows how does the hate or love look like but we shall create liquids and stuff to imagine them.

For this workshop some art equipment are needed.
